Training

What Types of Training Are Available?

Training services are tailored to meet the individual needs of each of our clients. In some cases, the purpose of training is to acquire information. In other cases, it provides an opportunity for participants to develop and practice skills. We incorporate a variety of strategies to accomplish training goals including:

Half-Day or Full-Day Training
Training sessions incorporate a combination of activities based on the topic and client need. Trainers prepare presentations and provide copies of all written materials. In addition, sessions may also incorporate independent and small group activities, role playing exercises, and other opportunities to incorporate knowledge and skills into ongoing responsibilities.

Planning and Training
In addition to training, we work with the client to establish a Design Team or conduct a survey to identify the most pressing needs, current skill or information levels, and training strategies that might be especially effective given a particular industry or community. Often, when volunteers or other consultants will be doing follow-up work with others, we will employ train the trainer techniques.

Training and Follow-Up Consultation
Following a training session, we can work with clients on a one-on-one basis or in small groups to help them apply what they have learned. This technique has proven the most effective in helping clients maximize what they've learned and create lasting change. Using follow-up consultation is helpful for 'train the trainer' projects.
